Well, you all know the little story of the woman who bought a case of dog food at the supermarket because it was so cheap.

Then had to go and buy a dog!

I must confess to being in the same boat, albeit without the purchase of a skanky mutt.

There has opened a new Waitrose in Portswood, (a hamlet of Southampton) and being nosy I went in to check on the bargains.
The only thing to catch my eye was a tub of ready made custard. Chums will know that this would not normally be a purchase of mine in the same way that I would not buy ready made, mashed spud or pre-cooked Poppadums.

However, I weakened and bought it. I had of course nothing on which to pour the aformentioned custard and so produced this:

Now that I have proved to be a 'Masterbaker' once again, I now feel the urge to do the Christmas cake, only I can't find my usual recipe.

Oh woe is me.

Can anyone help with a suitable recipe, lest I be undone?
