  • Wallander.

I've just finished watching the first episode of 'Wallander', the new Sunday night cop show and I must say it holds promise. For those not up to speed on TV progs let me describe it to you.

Imagine if you will a cross between Columbo and Frost, bring them into C21 and add a little gore. What you then have, in your melting pot, is an enigmatic policeman with all the doubts and problems of  a Sweedish Rebus.

Wallander is played by Kenneth Brannagh who thankfully eschews all 'loveyness' and tries, with some sucess, to get into character.
Time will tell, of course, but it bodes well for future episodes.

For those of you who missed the first episode, it is on BBCi player and Kenny appears never to shave at all.

    Dennypoos................................Sunday evenings now sorted.

  • WHITE!!!! I think not.

I've just noticed that my cheapo White Amarylis, (Hippeastrum really), bought from messrs ALDI has a distinct tinge to its flowering spike.

    P1020032

I can only assume that the boys in Ireland who packaged the bulbs had been refused a pay rise and were getting their own back on the company.

The real pisser is that assuming this plant to produce white flowers, I bought red, pink tinged, and the one known as 'Apple Blossom'. No white.

Dennypoos...................................................will not be having a 'White Christmas'

  • Clapton and Dylan Boxed sets.

There comes a time as my birthday approaches when I look to my music and see if there are any substantial gaps that need plugging, and there are.
I was scanning Ebay to see what was what and came across an auction for the 4 disc 'Crossroads' set and could see from the photo that this was the Clapton overview that I had previously owned. Won the auction and got the 'new sealed' set for half the current retail.
Buoyed up by this I nosed around some other sites, ending up on HMV online. Stone me they had a 3 disc Dylan set which filled in much of Dylans middle years with some other bits and bobs. So I bought that one as well at the astonishing price of £7.99 inc postage.

The two albums arrived on the same day and here I show how to do a boxed set and how to fuck it up.

Pic. 1. The two boxed sets.

    Boxed sets.

But something was not right. The Clapton set seemed to have shrunk 'in the wash'. I remember the box as twice the height of a std CD, but this wasn't.

    Pic. 2.

    Crossroads shrunk

So what has occured? Well I can only assume this is some misguided fool's attempt to save valuable rescources as the e situation is that  two discs sit one on top of each other, not with some hinged, flip over gizmo to seperate them. Just on top of each other. Now it is possible with fingernails and extreme care to get the lower disc out without having to take the top one out, but I'd not risk it, see pic

    Pic. 3.

    One on top

    To paraphrase 'Nigella'

JUST HOW FUCKING STUPID IS THAT?

The Dylan compiler however knows what he is about. For less than the price of three pints you get all this:

    Dylan box

A cloth covered box, three individual CD's, booklet and some silly collecting cards.Detail is such that each CD is done like an old 45 that has gone through the same wash cycle as the Clapon set, complete with grooves.

    Pic5.

    Each disc

AND, yes there's more, AND, just to make things really easy, they've put a little piece of ribbon so that you can extricate the CD's from the box without breaking your carefully manicured nails.

My hat is off to the boys at Colombia/SonyBmg and my finger is up to the tossers at Polydor/Phonogram.

    Dennypoos......................soon to be birthday boy.

  • Why do our buskers...

    ... not sound like this?

..and why, here in Southampton do I still get those vomit inducing airs of "Streets of London" as if I were in tube Station C1980?

Dennypoos...........just when I have all the answers to everything, I think of a new question.

  • Mumbai Shootings.

Say what you will but some of those hoary old phrases passed down from parent to child, really do ring true.

I'm thinking here of, "Every cloud has a silver lining"

What relevance can this have to the latest terrorist outrage? Well, I'll tell you.

It becomes obvious that India is in a state of turmoil and I for one do not think it safe for our cricketers to be out there.

The silver lining is.....we bring 'em home and the series will have to be abandoned.

  • The library, Pheasants and Celeriac.

So, up to the standard of my blog titles, but it does tell all.

Just finished reading Robert Harris 'Ghost', a good page turner, and had to return the book as someone had reserved it.
As luck would have it the local Sainsburys is opposite the library and I always have a nose round to see what bargains are to be had.
Today's bargain is whole Pheasants. They must have over ordered as they had truckloads reduced in price from £4.99 to £2.00. Lets face it at less than the price of a pint, (not as though I touch the devils piss), it just had to be done.

Returning to 'Dennypoos Acres' I dropped in at the local Lidl and they had Celeriac for 39p.

I've looked up some recipes on t'internet and will give it a go for supper tonight.

Denny's Diner....................soon to be re-branded as 'Dennis's Fine Dining and Supper Rooms'

  • Should have posted this...

  • Clouds! I'll give you Clouds!

Not my normal type of pic, a little too 'Scenic', whereas I'm more 'Documentary'.
    Still, worth posting I think.

  • Tips from 'Denny's Diner no1.

So you've still got some leftover roasted root vegetables from last nights dinner and you are wondering what to have for supper today.

The slovenly, lazy, earning too much dosh type person will scrape the old stuff into the bin, (hopefully for composting) and get out an M&S ready meal. Denny's Diner says no, NO!NO!

What you do is conjure up a Fritatta. Normally Nigel Slater would help here but he let me down with this one. Un-fazed I did it myself using four eggs and some pre-cooked spuds and fried onions to go with the leftovers.Top with some crumbled Feta and torn Basil leaves.

Turns out pretty damn well as can be seen:

Denny's Diner..................save as part of a step by step dietary discourse.

  • Ok, here are the seven bloody facts, alright?

    1) I passed my driving test in a Citroen Dyane.

    2) I have had a travelling exhibition of my photographs which visited, Scunthorpe, Hull, Leeds, Doncaster and Sheffield.

    3) I have just sold my DSLR after one years use, for more than I paid for it.

    4) I have been in prison.

    5) I have worn my then girlfriend's underwear.

    6) I 'Helped' two student friend to get their degrees by doing some of their work.

    7) I have had a girlfriend who turned out to be a paranoid schizophrenic and who torched my entire vinyl and CD collection.

    Satisfied now?

    Dennypoos........................laid bare, or is he?

  • Sunday music.

Yes it's that time of the week where yours truly tries to educate a needful mass of fellow bloggers as to musical discernment.
Today, following a small con-fab with the 'Seasideman' I have decided you should know of......Rahassan Roland Kirk, a blind, black, very black, Jazz player. He is best remembered for being able to play three saxophones simultaneously, but here, I give you an accessible toon.

Dennypoos..............let my shipwreck be a beacon to others.

  • I just bin got...

    ...by a smart-arse phonetic joke.

Imagine, if you will, Dennypoos partaking of a Blackcurrant and Soda with a friend who had recently had the good fortune to have been on a job-seeking course, at the end of which they did a little quiz.
Imagine, if you will, Dennypoos' smug expression when he got all the questions correct................with one exception.

    Q. There are twenty six sheep in a field and one dies, how many are left?
    A. Twenty five.

But not so. The answer given by equally smug friend was nineteen.

A few moments thinking outside the box and I could see where he got nineteen from. I re-phrase the question in the form that correlates to the answer.

    Q. There are twenty sick sheep in a field and one dies, how many are left?
    A. Nineteen.

I groaned as well so you are not alone.

Dennypoos............never afraid to show his ignorance.

  • Here's persistance.

Seen when on a photographic trundle around my favourite disused cemetery:

  • Well I'll be blowed.

Finally got round to reading my 'Times online' entertainment section and an interviewer lets it be known that Dame Helen Mirren is of Russian parentage. Gosh!
A quick visit to wiki tells me she was born:

    Ilyena Vasilievna Mironov

    helen-mirren

So the 'Queen' is a Ruskie, next I'll be finding out that the real Queen's a Kraut.

    Dennypoos..................Non-PC and proud of it.

  • Shakespeare's Son.

Just watching 'Eggheads' and one of the questions was :

" What was William Shakespeare's son called?". The answer was Hamnet.

I got to thinking and wondered whether the vicar at the christening was hard of hearing or perhaps did Will have a cold?

    Dennypoos..................pondering for a grateful nation.

  • Carlos Guitarlos.

For those wishing their blues rough and raw, here, as promised are a couple of tracks from the album 'Straight from the Heart'

    Track 1. Damn' Atchafalaya.

Track 2. Keep my Hot Tamales warm.

Dennypoos...........all things to all men, and a few women too.

  • ALDI not M&S for your........

    ......Amaryllis bulbs this Christmas.
I added to the bulbs I saved from last year with a couple of bulbs from Aldi and with a bit of inspection you can sus out those that are going to put up two flower spikes, as did I:

    P1010919

The main reason for Aldi however, is price. Non of your M&S/Waitrose prices, £9.99, pah! Just £1.99 at Aldi for bulb, compost and pot.

    Dennypoos....................your very own mystery shopper.

  • Another Bum.

No mes enfants not a posterior posting, rather a nod in the direction of new blog buddy frankofyle whom was just posted a blog about a Bob Harris' find.
This reminded me of my own last great find, ie 'Carlos Guitarlos', who is a similar drifter/troubadour and as such I feel it my duty to share him with you, because that's just the sort of caring, sharing person I purport to be, (though in truth I couldn't give a toss).

A promo video gawd-sakes, he must be going up in the world.

Dennypoos.................So much a service to the community, I should be paid by the Council.

  • Confusing, Nah!

I posted this on my flickr site for a group that I'm a member of, it being 'Guess where Southampton'. The point being to take photographs of places/things in the town with the object of getting other group members scratching their respective heads.
    This one did very well:

    Chaos in one exposure

Single exposure, minimum Ps, lots of images in one photograph.

    Dennypoos.......................where Art meets Arty&Farty.

  • TOUCANS! I'll give you bloody TOUCANS!

Just because they're big in booze advertising doesn't give them the right to throw their weight around. I've just noticed that here in Southampton they must have on or two councillors in their pockets, (difficult I grant you). How else would they receive special treatment, setting them out to be better than other exotic bird species?

Non-regular readers may by now be thinking, "What the hell is this guy banging on about" and who can blame them but I can reveal the source of my chagrin not in words,(1000 required), but in this photograph I took yesterday:

    Toucan Crossing

My concern, is where are the Parrots, Macaws and Birds of Paradise going to cross?
Surely in this day and age, the least we can expect from our Council is Avian equality, too much to hope for here in the south.

Dennypoos.........my concerns are the nation's concerns.

Now sixy, some poemtry about Toucans if you please.

  • TOUCANS! I'll give you bloody TOUCANS!

...bloody twatish editor.....and NO it can't be me.

  • Serendipity.

So there I was taking photographs of the QE2's farewell voyage. Some clown behind me jogged my elbow as I was taking yet another shot and I mentally wrote that one off.
When I bunged them into Photoshop I was ready to delete this and several others, but wait, by rotating the picture 90' it turns out like this:

    PB110640

    Reminds me of a Medusa.

Dennypoos..........sows ear, silk purse, what do you mean?

  • So Shane said to me...

    ...

"I'm better than ever, and so is everyone actually…. and that's old age…-laugh-…experience and the fact that I've never stopped playing live and all the rest of it, where the rest of them were doing other things I carried it on, but then it fell to bits gradually, you know what I mean ?…..and without Tommy the whole thing was over. But I will be doing my own stuff with various remnants of The Popes and there will probably be some new Pogues stuff coming out, but at the moment the only definite thing is that The Pogues are playing live, and I am going to try and persuade them to hopefully do Europe and get back to Germany, yeah? I've also been trying to persuade them to do Belfast, but the thing is I try not to get involved in the politics of it; I'm going to try and do Belfast as soon as possible. I'm sure we could sell Belfast and sell out The Point. I've tried to suggest one than more gig, it's to do with having a paying gig, not that I am that worried but it's the business people, yeah?! We used to play the King's Hall, the Queen's Hall and we also used to do the West Belfast Festival, but that's gone a bit different now. What's the nearest thing to The Point in Belfast? The Waterfront? How many would that hold, the same as The Point? So there is no reason not to do Belfast yeah! We don't play as many gigs these days, and we have all grown up a bit and learned to co-operate a bit better. So I don't do anything I don't want to do, and I don't force anyone to do anything they don't want to do, and I think we form a united front as a general rule, but at the end of the day we have to make it pay, right?! I was certainly grinding down at end of The Pogues, you know the first time, yeah! And we now have had 10 years off from each other now, but it's certainly not a nostalgia trip at all because we have a huge repertoire and everyone has got better. It's an endless repertoire; there is hundreds of stuff there really. New material could easily be done, yeah. I haven't made a studio album for almost 10 years, and the other guys haven't made one for the same time, but there is a backlog of stuff there. It's fun to play again the classics again like Dirty Old Town, Sally McLennane and also the ballads too. Off course in The Pogues I was doing all the main singing, but also The Pogues have also had Phil, Terry, Spider Andrew, so it's a good mix for the show."
Although The Pogues seem to be back on the live circuit for the foreseeable future, the question still remains regarding the doomed fate of MacGowan's former backup band. During his ten-year interlude away from The Pogues, MacGowan spent a long period with The Popes. This was the band that helped the singer make his comeback in the early 90's and provided a platform to launch two critically acclaimed albums. However, The Popes project gradually grinded to a halt last year and December 2006 seen the tragic death of Tommy MacManaman (founder member and banjo player). MacGowan now takes us through the reasons why The Popes ran to ground:
"I mean I did my best for year's to make The Popes pay, but at the end it couldn't possibly pay. All sorts of things happened in the end, shit happens, you know?!. We used to play two or three nights at The Olympia, and we were losing money because it wasn't The Pogues, yeah? It's the name itself, I'm not saying that me and The Popes are the exact same thing as me and The Pogues, but its just the magic of the name or whatever, right yeah, plus the fact that playing two gigs at the Olympia, yeah, doesn't making you as much money as playing one as The Pogues at The Point. Everyone wants to really go back to play in Germany somehow, there is a huge fanbase there, that all went down the drain because people at the top started saying you are going to get this much tax taken off you, but the point is that The Popes could not afford to play Germany at a point. The final stage was that Tommy had to leave cause he got really ill. We made three really good albums I thought yeah?! The third one being the live album, which was never distributed properly, but for a live album, it's not bad. Off course, nowadays there are so many bootlegs and downloading and all that kind of thing its hard to get it going. I mean the Crock of Gold was never given any proper promotion by ZTT, and of course they were always a bit notorious for paying on time. We got the publishing alright, The Crock Of Gold turned out alright in the end. The first album was much more successful, and all sorts of things went wrong with The Crock Of Gold, and then people started dying, yeah!? Like Big Charlie and people like that, real demoralising stuff. That had been also starting to happen in the Pogues."
As already mentioned, the all too tragic passing of Tom MacManaman came as very sad news to all the fans that have seen the band play, or indeed had the chance to meet Tom after gigs. Tom was a great character of the band and had the talent and flair to gain a strong reputation in the music business, here MacGowan gives tribute to his former bandmate :
"…he gained a lot of personal problems and it's none of my business to discuss them, stuff like his parents dying when he was young and stuff like that, yeah. The most brilliant banjo player I have ever played with, yeah….along with Barney McKenna, yeah, and Jem is a different type of banjo player. He was undoubtedly one of the nicest guys, he was always brilliant, but there was a high emotional price to pay, that sort of genius comes with a price, and he drank too much basically! Tommy took a sabbatical, to try and get healthy, cause the last thing I wanted was for another person to die, for the sake of us playing gigs. He went of and we made an agreement that we would all try and get ourselves together, and I wouldn't see him and he wouldn't see me until he was ok, and it seem to be working, and it certainly worked for me and the rest of the gang, but the band broke up eventually, but Tommy was already very ill by the time, it was only meant to be a sabbatical he was taking, he never left the band or we never threw him out or anything. Unquestionably in the banjo stakes he was in the same category as Terry Woods, a really inspired musician. I mean a lot of people fell by the wayside over the years, it's a bad business the heavy touring and all the rest of it yeah! But Tommy never played a bad gig, he was absolutely brilliant, and a brilliant human being, it's a pity that staying off the road didn't work.
It is reasonable to claim that Shane MacGowan may be as famous for his lifestyle and teeth as he is for his work. Okay, everyone knows him as the guy that wrote Fairytale of New York, but it is the purist that is aware of the true scope of the man's work. Although fair to say his finest work was done in the 80's, his songs have lived on and still remain favourites right into the 21st century. We now hear from the singer how he went along the creative process and hear how the ideas for some of his songs came:
"I would just bang around on the guitar or whatever I have in my hand, there is generally an instrument close by. Or I might be in a boozer, and the general idea forms, sometimes they just come, and sometimes they take ages and sometimes I collaborate with one of the others and it's usually Jem in the Pogues. You may not believe this but Body Of An American was the result of me thinking of the line 'Everyone there was pisskey' -laugh- and I got obsessed with the idea of a song with that line in it. Pisskey means pissed, yeah!? Then I thought of various stories from Ireland in my formative years, like the Cadillac outside the house, the American coming home dead, the boxers….there all mixtures of people and things yeah! Fairytale Of NewYork, was a bit like that yeah!, Jem had a tune and I had a tune and we had a basic idea of doing a duet, a Christmas song, but not like the usual bollocks, something with a Pogues feel yeah. At a certain point we developed to a point, then Kirsty was the magic thing that happened there, although Cait did a great job with it, but she left and that buggered it up, then we had label problems for two years, then we came out with the third album which we had been playing in for a long time, then the final thing was getting Kirsty into the studio and like saying 'well I'll have a crack at doing this', the way she did that vocal really put the stamp on the song. Fairytale was a proud moment, but it's to do with the whole band plus Kirsty, and Cait and all the people who were involved, and it all fell together without me really thinking about it. I couldn't just sit down and write it yeah, I mean I have done some like that, you know like bets, you know! Like I'll Be Your Handbag….-laugh- but someone give me a bet to use that as the title.
I remember a German said to me once, 'do you know the Turkish song by the Dammed', and I said 'what did you say?' and he said 'DO YOU KNOW THE TURKISH SONG OF DAMNED?', and I thought that's amazing, the Turkish Song Of The Dammed and we were playing around with bouzoukis and things and I had been to Greece and Turkey, and Terry and Jem used different sound to come up with a mixture of Eastern and Irish"
"Another example is Lullaby Of London, when we first moved to London my dad used to come up to my room when he came home from the boozer pissed, and sing a lullaby, well he wouldn't sing a lullaby he would be telling me things would be ok and work out ok, yeah ?!" "In terms of singing and playing music it was always around, and in my day you weren't allowed to say you cant sing, its having a go is the thing, I'd be singing anyway no matter what was going on, and playing. We just got lucky yeah, I mean one minute their throwing us out of these bars and the next minute they are paying us to play in them, you know what I mean. There is loads of great people out there that never get that break, Iv seen hundreds of great bands over the years that never made it, there was always plenty of influences. The best compliment we ever got was that The Pogues was that we were 'like The Dubliners on-speed' -laugh-. That is the original Dubliners, with Luke and Ciaron yeah. I never had the chance of meeting or talking to Luke. He was a huge influence, like Liam Clancy too…that whole thing was a big thing when I was a kid, Luke was gone by the time we got together to do the Irish Rover. Ronnie's got the throat cancer, I've rang him a few times and it sounds that he was alright, I mean he sounded ok, yeah?! He always sounded like he had throat cancer, the way he talks -laughs-. I think he will be fine. He is a fighter. It's really a matter of will I think, and getting it reasonably earlier. I think they must be close to getting a cure with that stem cell stuff. It's terrible Jim McCann lost his voice, but he is bloody lucky he didn't die with it. He is a great guy, Id rather have him around without the voice than not, and we have recordings of his beautiful voice. That group has had so many great singers. I mean Ciaron sang, played the whistle mandolin, was a fluent Gaelic speaker; he was kind of the Gaelic soul of the group. If you remember the 25th anniversary show, where we did the Irish Rover, Ciaron got up in the audience and recited a poem in Irish, and maybe some English, and he was dying on his feet when he done that.
In the final section of the interview Shane now talks about how he spent Christmas, his plans for a New Year gathering in the old homestead and plans to celebrate his 50th birthday:
"I've been down in Tipp since Christmas day. We had a lot of drink over Christmas, a few rows with the old man, and it has been mainly friendly so far. I heard about Mark Radcliffe doing the Stars In Your Eyes, did you see it? How does dressing up like me go anyway? -laugh-…. I suppose he had the bad teeth, yeah? I mean I'm a very hard person to take the piss out of anyhow, because I do such a good job of it myself, -laugh-, but I'd love to see that clip sometime.
I am looking forward to New Year's Eve, that will be a good one. We are going to spend it at the old house, which is right out in the country where I was brought up, her mother and her mother you know yeah? It's nearly 400 hundred years old. It's where I got it all from, obviously I didn't scrap it off the floor year!? I should be a good night, what's left of the family will be there we will have a few drink, and sing and play music. I still mess around on guitar or whatever is there, but on New Year's will be more type of Sean Nos thing mixed with playing the old records like Elvis and Rock 'n' Roll."
The 50th will be a good excuse for a bit of a party next year, for the fortieth I tried to ignore it but I think we will have a big thing for the 50th. But off course I only have six months to live if you listen to the media, they got that one wrong didn't they -laugh-. Every-time someone says I have six months to live I say fuck you, but that's media yeah! It's been a while since they said I have six months left to live but unfortunately old Tommy has gone, however life must go on yeah"
Before I go can you mention to Ingrid that I will get the blog I started sorted so it is on ShaneMacGowan.com, I know she is going through personal stuff now, but that's no-one's business, but can you tell her I will get the Blog sent to her site anymore, yeah?, Cheers and happy new year!.

Ok, I lied, Shane MacGowan wasn't actually speaking to me as such, more chuntering away to himself in the way that only he can.

Dennypoos............a place where the truth may be inviolate, but I'm not.

  • Confusion can arise...

...because of an age difference twixt talker and listener as happened to myself and A.N. other. It went along the lines of " ..course you guys won't know about the Boss?". I was referring to Spruce Springsteen, god of all blue collar rockers. The reply I got was, " Wot Hugo Boss?"

Other examples that tell me I am getting old are 'Render' which as an ex builder meant covering a wall with a sand/cement coating but as I am now doing some CAD stuff, means adding colour or mass to a design.

OS, used to mean Ordinance Survey, as in 1" to 1 mile maps. It now signifies the operating system for a computer, ie XP, Vista, Leopard.

Before I started to write this blog I had three other examples but such is my advancing senility I'm buggered if I can remember them. Bit like remembering some smart-arse comment half an hour after it should have been made,,,,,,,,,, only in reverse.

Dennypoos.........If ever I had the plot, I have most certainly mislaid it.

  • Don't think so....

Guy wishes to be one of my select band of 'friends'. I checked his postings and this is an example:

Feel free to scroll, I won't be upset.

Are you aware that the news you are watching is interlaced with Communist China's propaganda,as
Communist China maps a realm of news with innocent lives?
Communist China is scheming a millennial terrorist activity by manipulating people's behaviors
through electromagnetic waves to contain criticism and harm innocent human lives.

    1. The anomaly in community traffic of cars and motorcycles and drag racing, and reckless honking by
cars and motorcycles is exceeding an unprecedented level.
    2. Communist China has the technology to scan the human brain waves through military satellite and
to discern and decipher their thoughts, scheming to instill individual interference focusing on
each individual in need using the satellite electromagnetic waves.
    3. Deploying electromagnetic waves is poised to project onto the human brain with certain
sounds for the perception of grossly traumatizing or startling pain,or deploying the broadcast
of noise via electromagnetic waves in sleeping humans with edited clips of films or through
voice or image signals onto our brains or besiege our sensory functions with fabricated
    audible and sensory illusions.
    4. It manipulates one's moods,such as smiling,nervousness,disgust,panic,anger,sorrow,
    desires,appetite,and so forth.
    5. It interferes the human brain's thinking capability, memory or linguistic capability,to name a
few, causing spasms of muscles and fingers in the left and right hands, stinging aches
throughout the body, coughing, yawning, trembling, involuntary blinking of the eye, runny
    nose and so forth.
    6. Electromagnetic waves are deployed to hinder the motoring functions of the body and neck,
    disrupt the heartbeat or respiration,manipulate dizziness,deprive one's sleep,spasm,saliva
    gland,dental neural pain,etc.
    7. Watch out that Communist China is infiltrating the news media by deploying electromagnetic
waves to besiege the broadcast media, map out viral disillusion or erroneous perception, and
investigate threats of brainwashing in viral spreading.
    8. It further moved to deploy various symptoms in what one sees of media icons, gesture terms,
adding a skewed interpretation to one's cognitive awareness, misleading an individual to
hallucinate or suffer, such as the North Korean's rigid smile, which is a tactic Communist
China often deploys to counter the people.
    9. By observing the resolution accuracy of Communist China's sound and image (scenario)
interference projected onto the human's brain, this can only be achieved with a certain level
of frequencies at the source of interference, hence there is no doubt that it has to be the
electromagnetic wave. Yet questions remain as to what range of frequencies the source of
interference deploys,or what kind of electromagnetic waves insulation chamber would suffice
to provide an insulation yield? Communist China might deploy specific metal alloys as small scale
molecular antennas, which are attached to the human brain in large number, creating
electromagnetic waves when the human brain is in function, where the current created by
Communist China's electromagnetic interference would poise to amplify in a staggering
number of multiplication, which Communist China can detect at all times to discern and
muscles would excel the generation of electrode, which in turn create a corresponding
    electromagnetic wave within.
    10. Some of Communist China's intimidation experiences in 2002:6.9 "Hey,are you tired of living?"
6.14 "We had concocted the bombing incident at the U.S. embassy in Pakistan"
"Jiang Zhemin ordered us to kill you,but without creating scenes"6.16 "The Pakistani
civilian troops confessed that they had schemed the bombing of the U.S. embassy in
Pakistan, which we had manipulated them to confess,so what are you going to do about it?"
6.19 "Hey,why don't you just go ahead and commit suicide""We are going to scheme
murder using the public bus"6.20 "Commit suicide by burning charcoal, get it?"6.25 "Jiang
Zhemin just does not like you,go hit your head against the wall".
    11. I reckon that there are victims abound out in the street,no less alarming than wars, and those
not in the know or did not understand that Communist China's simple electromagnetic design
could easily turn people against each other, create moving incidents, little lese to say mislead
the youth to broach down the wrong path, suicidal prompting, design and fabrication of a host
of society news (which Communication China refers to as movie making),as Communist China has had a
decade long of the technology, and has long abused its technological advantages to scheme up design
of abusing human lives by arranging fabricated news to poison and infiltrate the free
world, manipulate and misguide the contents of the media, and deploy brainwashing and malicious
spread of viruses, done with insinuation and riddles. The fact that Communist China's slaughtering
the innocent had been the result of a high level of calculation, and a high level of rationalization,
where the threats are in existence, and cannot be ignored of their detrimental severity.
    12. Communist China often coerce people to watch news compiled by the reporter Lu Yuling of the cable
news in order for them to be saved, but few are aware that Communist China had merely deploy the
reporter to entrap many people. I do envision that those that turn to committing crime as framed
by Communist China, the extra sufferings by the ordinary people, and the deaths of many innocent
lives will not go unnoticed as hindered by a condoning attitude.
    13. Nazi Hu Jintao, Jiang Zemin, Chinese Liberation Army, security police and armed police have committed suppression and massacre on their own civilians. Hu, Jiang and the other atrocious butchers owe these innocent civilians! More horrible and serious is that they are using mysterious killing technologies to cause harms to human brains around the world, making advantage of numerous international politicians and journalists to help them commit atrocities and beautify their actions, aiming to overturn and suppress those innocent people and cover up their terrorist acts and win fame by cheating the world. Securing in the knowledge that they have strong backing, these arrogant and shameless butchers have committed tortures and mass killing cruelly to those innocent ones around the world. Unfortunately, neither these politicians and nor journalists knowing what is what would dare to express their conscience.
    14. The inhumane acts and atrocities committed by Nazi China are far more vicious than that of Nanjing massacre in China during WWII committed by Japanese army, as Chinese government is using mysterious technologies to commit massacres to masses of bare-handed civilians around the world as well as launch violence and terrorist activities to suppress these completely unarmed people’s freedom of speech. These demons, like Hu, Jinag and Chinese Liberation Army, despise the chastity, dignity and precious life of those innocent ones and suppress the emotions of their beloved. Meanwhile, relying on the condition that most of people in the world will not be able to witness their vicious acts of violence and behaviors they have committed unscrupulously and shamelessly, these Chinese Liberation Army enjoys using cruel ways to torture, massacre and trample on these innocent people, physically and mentally, in one free world. The arrogant Hu, Jiang and those jackals nurtured under such ferocious power treat themselves as the symbol of benevolence and hero, as they fail to learn their gutless and vicious acts to trample on those innocent people. If these demons, butchers and dregs of human, such as Hu, Jiang and Chinese Liberation Army who have become frenzied and conscienceless appeared in the site of Nanjing massacre in WWII, they definitely would be the leading roles to act atrocities!
    15. We don’t want to see masses of innocent people to fall victim to the hell on earth built by red China where they will be susceptible to tortures and massacres for thousands of years.
    16. Despite being even unable to fend for themselves in face of the high-tech detriments and attacks from China, we can not tolerate the fact that these politicians and journalists will become the accomplices to help China commit its terrorist acts and suppression on these innocent people in the current era or an unknown future.
    17. In view of the notorious, vicious and sinister Hu, Jiang, Chinese Liberation Army with blood-stained hands, we just cast doubt over whether these greats of knowing what is what who have negotiated with these demons will show their conscience to save these innocent civilians or will act just for the sake of their profits, or are under the control of China. In this current drowned world, how will these innocent lives be treated in face of the atrocious acts committed by these diabolical figures, or when these innocent people will witness the practice of democracy in China? Will these phenomena turn out to be the joint efforts and endeavors achieved by China and those powerful figures in the world? Are we really dedicated to overturning such adversity? Our goal is to eliminate the vicious power one day with our strenuous efforts, and we absolutely will achieve it!

...Yep good buddies, non of that churchifying, Christian old toot for me.
I am declaring that I am the God of the Christmas Cake. I, and my followers shall spend each and every Sunday between now and Dec 25th lovingly administering to our charges.
I myself use the skewer  and cap method but we are not constrictive in how our adherants perform their duties, for we are a broad church.

I am aware of a break-away faction who believe that 'Brandy flavourings and essence's' are the true way forward, eschewing the traditional alcohol benediction. To those misguided fools I say this, "Reject the ridiculous blandishments of the sobriety gang lest you be spurned as one would spurn a Rabid dog."

I keep the faith and invite you all to witness the Cap and Skewer benediction.

    Second attempt at this post:

Stripped the dry Bay leaves from the branches yesterday and found I had 69 grammes of leaves. Doesn't sound a lot but it was enough to fill a mixing bowl, see below:

    Bay stripped

At current rates, ie.94p per 6g pack, that means I've saved all of £10.81.

  • A QE2 conversation.

Whilst attempting to get a pictorial reminder of what people are calling 'The last of the great liners', I happened to overhear a conversation going on between two well spoken, upper class 'Toff' types.
Imagine , if you will, Paul Whitehouse'sWhitehouse's charaBirkinRoley Birkin', he being the old sot who tells a tale with a final rejoinder that he was ' Very. very drunk'

    Rowley Birkin

The conversation went along these lines:

" Course the old girl didn't want to be here at all. Why else would she run herself aground on 'The Brambles'? Eh? Tell me that? Stands to reason, I mean the bloody ship's been coming up Southampton water for forty years, could do it blindfold.
Its like you and me after a bit of a 'do'. Wake up next morning in your own bed with a mouth like a badgers arse, not a clue as to how you got there. Second nature.
Same with 'The Queen'. Best pilots in the world here, five tugs and a Commodore who took the damned ship out on her first voyage and non of them could stop the old girl showing the old fighting spirit.
Dubai.bai-fucking-bai, what have they got to offer? Sand and bloody shopping, that's what. Should have had her here or up town. Could have had her as a memorial to the lads who died in the Falklands, but oh no the bloody money grabbing Cunard Yanks flogged her off to the highest bidder. BaDennypoos

I don't know what the fuck is going on here but I won't be using the new editor again as this is the third time I've written this post and do not feel arsed to do it yet again, so this is as good as it's going to get. I'm sure you'll sort it out.

  • Farewell QE2.

I said I'd give it a go, and so I have

QE2 from the pierNo guessing where I was tonight. Myself and bloody thousands of others who seemed to have been there all day. By the time I drifted down to the 'Town Pier' the crowd was five or six deep and I couldn't find anywhere to rest the camera, (tripod being out of the question).
So what with long exposures, the wrong lens on my DSLR, etc I was forced into using camera no2, thankfully I got  a few bits and pieces--shown below--which with a bit of tarting about will be enhanced and upgraded to 'Average'.

                                                                                Hey-Ho.

    QE2. The final voyage.

And again:..............or perhaps not at the moment as the uploader seems a tad bollocksed. I'll show more, as Jools Holland would say, 'Later'.

    Dennypoos........................Silk purse from Sow's ear?........Not quite.

  • QE2.

All well being I shall be attempting to get a few photo's of the QE2 at the start of its farewell voyage from Southampton. There will be fireworks and all sorts og other gubbins. The only problem is that a huge crowd is expected to see the old boat off and I'm not very good with crowds.

Got to have a little chuckle though as the ship ran aground on a sandbank at 5.30am this morning and had to be helped off with three tugs. You'd have thought that after all these years they'd know how to get into Southampton Water.

  • Is it ANT or is it DEC???

I noticed the other night that one of the Ant and Dec brothers was doing a bit of moonlighting by doing the weather forecast. I must admit to being a little suprised as I hadn't thought things were going too badly, wot with the irritating duo never being off the screen, (not mine I hasten to add, as I Keep the remote to hand for just such occurences).

  • Internet TV and myself not going to the pub.

As the distinguished band of carefully selected friends will know I've had a bit of a problem with a more than social consumption of Ethanol. ie being an Alkie.
Currently on the waggon, I did not relish the thought of having to go to the a local pub in order to watch the Arsenal-ManU game on Sky-sports. I don't have Sky, prefering instead to get broadband.
There are a number of reasons for not wanting to go to the pub and these are:

    I'm currently bereft of funds.
Coke costs £1.85 for a large glassfull  which I get through in 45 minutes,
    Crisps are 60p a bag,
There's nothing worse than being surrounded by half pissed, loud football fanatics when you yourself are stone cold sober.

And so, with perfect timing, one of my blogging buddies posted a blog detailing where you could watch loads of sports and other gubbins FOR FREE.
Thats my kind of price and yesterday I gave the site a bit of a looksee. Got to say the quality that I'm getting isn't great by any means, probably similar to non-digital in a poor signal areab but I'm spoilt by HD, up-scaling and a 1080p screen. However bearing in mind the circuitry the signal will have gone through before it even gets to go through my wireless broadband, it aint too bad.

    The main things are

    1) It is watchable.
    2) It is free, costs nada, fuck all.

If you want to give it a go, here's the site:

    http.www.justin.tv/

or if this link doesn't work, just google justin tv and you'll get there.

  • A prickly Pear problem.

The bloody fruit and veg stall has done for me yet again. Not content with forcing me to make Victoria Sponges and purchase double cream, it has now caused a bit of a moral dilemma.

The thing is they have such amazing offers, today's being on Pears. No prob, I hear you chorus, English Pears now in season. Well yes but the ones on offer are from China and wot with me being a bit of a 'Greenie' and being aware of air-miles and all that old tut I was facing a bit of a problem.

Five Chinese pears in a punnet 50p, similar amount of English 'Conference' Pears, £1.20.

Well, they didn't import the Pears especially for me.
I do need to keep up with my five a day.
I am on a very restricted budget.
They were ready for eating, not as hard as Iron.
They looked good with a little colour and bloom on the skin.

Yes good reader, I turned to the Chinese product, how could I not?

  • A Social Service.

How many of us, I wonder, have been walking along the pavement only to have to take avoiding action because some negligent bastard has allowed a bush/shrub/tree to grow over his property boundary and block half the bloody path.
I came across such an example only a few days ago and resolved to re-visit the scene armed with my trusty secateurs. This I duly did and having performed sufficient surgery on the offending bush removed the detritus back to 'Dennypoos Acres', thus clearing the pavement for perambulating persons.

You could have knocked me down wiv a fe'ver as the bush turned out to be 'Laurus Nobilis', ie a Bay Tree. Wot with me being a bit of a cook this was manna from Heaven. The only thing to do of course was to dry the branches and make use of the leaves in stews gravies etc. As can be seen from the picture below I hung them upside down from the (low energy) bulb in the hallway and they are almost dry enough to use.

    Bay leaves

Funny thing is, only a few weeks ago I performed a similar task, tidying a scruffy-overgrown hedge only to find that it was a series of Rosemary bushes. Just how bizarre is that?

  • Fluent in 'Bollocks'

It's as well that I am fluent in Bollocks as were I not then this sublime piece of writing may have passed me by.
    I must firstly explain that 'Bollocks' is an umbrella term for a number of different but homologous languages which have over time insinuated themselves into the English language. Examples are;

EAS, Estate Agent Speak, which we all know a little about having looked at the the difference between details given out and the property itself.

PAT, Politicians Avoidance Talk, this is where a politician can talk for hours but says nothing, an example is when asked a specific question he chooses to answer a different one.

SNB, Sleeve Note Bollocks, not now so prevalent and soon to be a forgotten form as Mp3 downloads will super-cede CD's which in their turn super-ceded LP's, which is where SNB could be seen in all its pomp and majesty.

LGF, Local Government Frippery, this being Local Government department's in-house competition to see who can come up with the most obtuse piece of writing and have it published in a brochure or some other document for public consumption.

What I have for you all,and Sixey in particular, is an example of LGF. This is to be found in the Guildhall-north Lobby, under the stairs to Southampton's award-winning art gallery.

  • So it's Obama then.

So that's it then, Barack Obama, the 'African American', is the new American President, not unexpected.

    Obama

Whilst not obsessed with the elections I have been keeping a wary eye on the proceedings as whatever happens across the pond impinges on us here in Blighty.

I am concerned as to the whereabouts of Obama's running-mate. Has the old guy grown an extra head or what? I bet the majority of readers can't even remember his name, it's escaped me for the time being too.

I am concerned in that I have no idea as to Mr Obama's policies, his fiscal thoughts, his take on the Iraq/Afghanistan debacle, his ideas on anything.

I am a tad worried by the thought that if Obama hadn't got the
'First African American President' card to play, he would be nowhere.

I notice that when mentioned by name, Obama is also given the soubriquet 'African American'. I don't remember JFK being described as 'Irish American'. So until this descriptive term goes out of use race remains an issue in the States.

No matter that she was on the losing team, Sarah Palin, all round Hockey Mom and MILF, has had her stock increased many-fold. Is she really going to be the new face of American politics? I do hope not. She is enough to make me turn to Hillary Clinton, so that tells you how bad I think she is.Here's one of her quotes:
" I shall do whatever I like until the Courts tell me I can't". Nuff said.

    ... an Anorak type fact.

I'm watching the footie on the tele, and No Madame Pompadour it's not Man city.
Liverpool v Atletico Madrid. Not a game full of excitement and in fact Liverpool have just gone behind, but I digress. The interesting fact is that Liverpool have more Spanish players in their side than do Atletico Madrid, a Spanish team, as the name would suggest.

Dennypoos...............Just bear with me as I get up to speed again.
